After many years spent on the web searching for information, we decided it was time for us to establish our own online presence. Eureka InfoMed was created to showcase what has been a lifelong passion: searching for, finding, and making information accessible.
How was Eureka InfoMed founded?
Our founder, Maria Albano, became an information entrepreneur in 2004 after several years of experience working in the documentation departments of multinational pharmaceutical companies and within two publishing houses.
This career change was driven by the belief that the expertise of a documentation specialist could be used in a more comprehensive and creative way. At the same time, the pharmaceutical industry’s approach to managing specialized literature was undergoing significant changes.
After an initial period in which large documentation centers and libraries were downsized or closed, encouraging end users to conduct their own literature searches, it became clear that this approach was often neither efficient nor cost-effective. Highly qualified professionals were spending valuable time performing information searches outside their primary areas of expertise.
At that point, Maria Albano recognized an opportunity to put her experience at the service of clients who needed reliable information but could no longer justify maintaining an in-house documentation function. As organizations increasingly began outsourcing information management activities, they sought the added value that only an independent information professional could provide.
Becoming an independent information professional and establishing a dedicated consultancy was not a simple transition. It required continuous updating on new information technologies and emerging communication tools, as well as the development of stronger writing, communication, and creative skills. This evolution made it possible to create new products and services capable of delivering information in ways that are both accurate and engaging.
Today, Eureka InfoMed continues to support clients by transforming complex information into valuable, accessible knowledge tailored to their needs.
